Preventative health

A lifetime of good health

Maintaining good health throughout a lifetime is one of the best ways to prevent disease occurring in the body and enjoy quality of life as old age approaches. Our GP’s can help detect and treat disease early, to reduce the risk of a disease becoming serious, debilitating or fatal.

During your consultation with your doctor they may initiate discussion about the preventative checks they feel meet your individual health needs or implement health management plans they believe will be of benefit to you.

Our GPs will explain and discuss with you the reasons why they are recommending the preventative care actions.  It is important that you understand what the interventions are and why they are being recommended, so please ask your GP for more information if you are unsure as there are different resources we can give you, including:

  • Reputable websites where you can access the health information
  • Health information brochures or fact sheets
  • Reputable websites and resources that offer information in other languages, other formats and/or are culturally appropriate

With your consent we will also add you to our reminder system so that you are alerted when regular screenings are due.
