Dan graduated from Newcastle University in 1986 and went on to complete his general practice fellowship in 1994. He then worked in the Solomon Islands for two years, followed by three years in the Torres Straits and four years in central Australia, where he completed his training as a Public Health Physician in 2000.

Dan brings decades of public health and general practice experience as well as experience in tropical medicine.

Dan moved to the Northern Rivers in 2002 and started at Lennox Head Medical Centre in 2003. He also initiated and works in the Ballina Aboriginal Health Service and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University Centre for Rural Health, University of Sydney School of Medicine. Dan continues to be involved in writing national evidence-based guidelines for important health conditions.

In his clinical work, Dan enjoys being a generalist covering office surgical procedures, mental health, paediatrics, aged care and all that lies between. Dan seeks to help patients make informed choices for their health be that lifestyle issues, medications or procedures.
