Dr Johanna Schafer

MBBS, FRACGP, DRANZCOG Adv., MPH

Jo completed her medical degree at the University of Melbourne and her residency years at Eastern Health in Melbourne. As a result, she gained experience in a busy city emergency department, in general medical and surgical wards, psychiatry and in rehabilitation medicine. During this time, Jo also completed a Master of Public Health through the University of Newcastle.

Jo commenced her general practice career in the vibrant inner-city suburb of Brunswick, where she worked in a community medical centre. Her work involved trips to the nearby general practice residential service and a nearby ‘drop-in’ GP service serving homeless people.

Opting for a change of scenery, Jo then left Melbourne for Bendigo, Victoria. She worked at Bendigo Hospital, undertaking an Advanced Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
