Dr Peter Silberberg

MBBS, FRACGP, B.Med.Sc, Grad.Dip.PublicHealth
Dr Peter Stalenberg from Lennox Head Medical Centre

“There’s no typical day in general practice. I believe in creating a safe space for patients to tell me what they need to tell me, and I take their concerns seriously. I want to hear their stories and hopefully contribute to making their lives better.”

Peter settled on the North Coast in 2009 after a varied and interesting journey. He completed his medical training at Monash University in Melbourne. His travels around Australia included Sydney, Lismore and Darwin living in the tropics, where he stayed for six years, exploring different aspects of medicine.

While in Darwin, Peter completed his GP training, also working in Alice Springs undertaking public health research in remote Aboriginal communities. He then practiced in an inner-city practice Melbourne and in a youth drug and alcohol service before moving to the North Coast.

Peter works part-time at Lennox Head Medical Centre and part-time at the Lismore Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS). He values working in a small regional community in such a beautiful part of the world.

He enjoys the full spectrum of GP, from primary prevention through to management of chronic and complex conditions. He has a special interest in mental health and enjoys looking after people with mental illness, whether it be an acute situation or a chronic or severe mental illness such as depression or schizophrenia.

Peter believes it is a privilege to be part of a small community where he works as a member of a tight knit team.
